"An evocation of quiet memories..."

  • The Union HTX Gallery 2315 Union Street Houston, TX, 77007 United States (map)

The Transitory Sound and Movement Collective is thrilled to have been commissioned by Arts District Houston to create a very special immersive piece that we will perform twice on the evening of October 1st at The Union HTX Gallery to a limited and intimate audience for each run. No tickets are required but space is very limited for each performance.

The TSMC will create an evocative immersive piece that will envelop the audience participants in the history and voices of the 6th ward and bring about a contemporary perspective through the artists’ responses to the stories from the residents of the community gathered from the archives of MECA.

Incorporating the techniques of divisive theatre, contemporary choreography, responsive structured sound composition and spoken word, the TSMC will give an historic and present day perspective on the changes and transitions of the neighborhood in which history and the contemporary meet in contrast and harmony whilst taking the audience on an emotional ride through dynamic movement and sound.

This piece will run approximately 30 minutes and will not have seating. There will be two runs that happen back to back with a short intermission between each run so arrive early to secure your ability to witness this piece. Remember, no tickets required so it is first come, first in....

The artists in this piece are:

Dance Artists:
Jennifer Mabus (choreographer)
Ben Delony
Lindsay Cortner

Sound Artist:
Lynn Lane
